Darius Slay Gifted His Old High School Jersey

One of the most notable NFL players hailing from Brunswick, Georgia is none other than Darius Slay, the talented cornerback for the Philadelphia Eagles. Slay has had a remarkable journey from high school to the NFL and he recently got a chance to reminisce back on his younger days.

During his high school years from 2006 to 2009, Slay showcased his skills at Glynn County Stadium, playing for Brunswick High School. His remarkable performance on the field made him a legend in the world of prep football. And recently, the football program paid tribute to his outstanding achievements.

At Slay's "Big Play Slay Football Camp", which he helped run to give back to his roots, he was presented with his high school jersey, bearing the number 4, which he proudly wore as a player for the Pirates.

During his time in Brunswick, Slay showcased his exceptional skills as both a wide receiver and running back, consistently delivering remarkable offensive performances. In his junior year, he astounded with over 1,300 rushing yards and an impressive 15 touchdowns. Despite facing the challenges of recovering from an ACL injury, Slay's determination remained unwavering, as he continued to shine in his senior season, accumulating over 1,100 rushing yards and an impressive 13 touchdowns.

Slay's talent extended beyond football, as he also showcased his skills in basketball and track and field while representing the Pirates. Despite his impressive versatility as a multi-sport athlete, Slay didn't receive extensive attention from college recruiters. Ultimately, he made the decision to attend Itawamba Community College before seizing an opportunity to play for Dan Mullen and the Bulldogs in Starkville.

During his time with the Bulldogs, Slay embraced a transition to the cornerback position and thrived. His exceptional abilities were on full display as he recorded a remarkable 64 tackles, six interceptions, and two touchdowns. Recognizing his standout performance, Slay made the bold choice to declare for the 2013 NFL Draft, aiming to take his skills to the professional level.

As the 36th overall pick in the second round, Slay was chosen by the Detroit Lions. Since then, he has established himself as a star in the league, earning five Pro Bowl selections and amassing an impressive 26 interceptions. Currently playing for the Philadelphia Eagles, Slay continues to make waves in the NFL.
